Gone Girl Movie Fashion: Amy Dunne’s Black Purse

“Where can I find the black handbag Amy carries when she is in the car leaving New York?” — Loretta

Unlike Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) on the road after her mysterious disappearance in Gone Girl, Loretta is not alone in this quest. I have received tons of emails about this chic bag (even though it only appeared in two scenes!),  and thanks to reader Mel’s fashionable eye, I was able to ID it even before I could get my hands on an image of it from the film. My best screen grab attempt (read: it’s super low quality) is below.

Other famous females who have been spotted carrying this bag by Italian designer Tod’s? Zoe Saldana has it in tan as does Nicole Kidman, Diane Kruger has one, and finally, the most legit endorsement of this accessory comes from Kate Middleton who has sported her grey version too many times to count. Turns out this modern style is an homage to Kate’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana (now you know why it’s called the “D-Bag”), who carried the original version regularly before her death in 1997.

If it’s fit for a princess, it’s certainly fit for a royal pain in the ass, too. Check it out on amazing Amy below!
