Hannah’s (Lena Dunham) and Shoshanna’s (Zosia Mamet) vending-machine conversation on the second new episode of Girls (Season 3, episode 2, “Truth or Dare“) this past Sunday was actually quite enlightening.
We leared Shosh is allergic to Chex Mix, that Jessa (Jemima Kirke) is capable of shedding human tears, and finally that Ryan Phillippe’s last name is not (contrary to popular belief) pronounced fill-eep-ay, but rather, fill-ip-eee.
Shoshanna claimed she knew the proper pronunciation because she had — naturally — read Ryan’s autobiography (which, by the, way, doesn’t exist). This comment made me laugh because it was so random. So, it got me randomly thinking about all the odd celebrity biography books I read when I was a pop-culture-crazed teen. Just to name a few of them: actors Devon Sawa, Jonathan Brandis, and the biographies of the entire cast of (the original!) Beverly Hills, 90210.
Phew, glad to get that off my chest.
What about you guys: did you read any celebrity autobiographies or biographies when you were younger? And which way do you think Phillippe should be pronounced?
