Oz Beauty: Get Mila Kunis’ Theodora Look

Oz Mila Theodora Makeup Beauty

Before you get the chance to be won over by Glinda’s Michelle Williams) charms in Oz the Great and Powerful, you meet Theodora (Mila Kunis) — described as a “beautiful, naive witch” who is “protected” (read: controlled) by her big sis, Evanora (Rachel Weisz).

Naive is probably an understatement.  Upon meeting Oz (James Franco) she’s so gullible and sincere, it’s borderline obnoxious. And just when you think you can’t take anymore of Theodora’s innocent disposition, the camera zooms in for close up and you soon forget her pitfalls and become entranced with her gorgeous, gorgeous makeup.

That is, at least, what happened when I saw the flick. Mila’s eyes were striking, her lips were full, and her overall look was just stunning. I made it a mission to connect with Tracey Levy,  Mila’s personal makeup artist, who also worked with her on Oz, to find out how to recreate the look.

“Mila and I have worked together often and we wanted Theodora to be very different from her other characters,” Tracey explained to OSS.  “I wanted to keep Theodora as innocent as possible but at the same time create a bit of mystery…I wanted [her] to have an inner fire.”

To bring out that inner fire, the artist said she chose strong lip and eye colors, which weren’t typically a part of Mila’s regular beauty routine.” The biggest departure from Mila the real woman was the red lip.”

Let this be a lesson to all of us beauty addicts: take risks! You never know when it will pay off.
