Did anyone happen to catch the name of the person who directed tonight’s The Carrie Diaries (Season 1, Episode 8, “Hush Hush“)?
Hint #1: She put the phrases “as if,” “riding the crimson wave,” “I hope not sporadically,” and so many others on the pop culture map.
Hint #2: She helped spark a baby-tee, pleated-plaid-skirt, and knee-high sock revolution in 1995.
Hint #3: She made the world realize that girls who love shopping, makeup, and boys can also be intelligent.
You guessed it: I’m talking about the famously un-clueless filmmaker, Amy Heckerling. It seems fitting that the woman who tackled the teenaged woes of trendy high schoolers in Clueless and Fast Times at Ridgemont High would take the helm on TCD episode in which our 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) experienced two very significant firsts.
Her first sweet taste of a cosmopolitan cocktail.
And, her first time stepping out in Manolo Blahnick heels.
One of those, by the way, I did at age 21 and the other I still can’t say I have. I’ll let you figure out which is which…
